In response to being asked about how to go deeper with one’s practice with children, we offer these monthly musings as invitations for you. You might take the invitation up
The opportunities are endless.
We will pose these musings monthly but use them as you feel moved to. You might spend more than a month with one question. Or you might revisit a question at a later time. Each time you visit or revisit a question, new possibilities emerge.
A Practice of Relationship
“When you engage in a practice of relationships, you create places of vitality in early childhood communities with children—as mighty learners and citizens—and their families.”
Flight, p.50
Think about the ways you learn from families, support families, celebrate with families, and sit alongside families in daily living. Your relationships with families contribute to a place of vitality. In Flight, a place of vitality is described as “strong, active, and energetic communities.”
In what ways are you supported in caring for children, families, and other educators who contribute to your relational care practices?
What have you learned about families and children that help you care for them and celebrate them?
Who do you collaborate with already, and who might you invite from the broader community to support you in your work with families?
